KATHRYN LOMER grew up in north west Tasmania and now calls Hobart home. She has taught English as a Second Language for many years in Australia and in Japan.

Her short stories and poems have appeared in various literary journals including Island, Overland, Meanjin and Southerly. University of Queensland Press published her first novel, The God in the Ink, in 2001 and her first poetry collection, The Extraction of Arrows, was published by UQP in 2003. The Extraction of Arrows was shortlisted for the John Bray Poetry Prize, part of the 2003 Adelaide Writers' Festival Literary Awards, and won First Prize in the Anne Elder Poetry Prize in April 2004.

In 2002 she received an Australia Council grant for work on her second novel.

Kathryn's first novel for young adults will be published by UQP in September 2004.
