Janet Upcher lives in Hobart where she teaches, edits and writes poetry, short fiction, essays and scripts: favourite genre is poetry. Her work has been published in: The Canberra Times (ACT), Yellow Moon (NSW), Island Magazine (TAS), Poetrix (VIC), Scope (QLD), The Southern Review (SA), Chautauqua Lit. Journal (N.Y.- USA). Her awards and prizes include: FAW NSW Cedar Award,1st prize short fiction,1997 Trudy Graham 1st prize short fiction award, WA,2004 Soapbox essay/article writing award,1st prize QLD,2004 C.J. Dennis one Act play national award,1st prize,2001 Devonport poetry competition,1st prize, 2004 Val Vallis QLD poetry competition, highly commended,2005 NSW Society of Women Writers,3rd prize poetry, 2001. Janet Upcher has been a member of the Tasmanian Writers' Centre (since its origins as the Tasmanian Writers' Union) and is a member of the Tas. Society of Editors, FAW Tas and FAW, Qld.
