Jane Williams was born in England in 1964. Her first collection of poems outside temple boundaries was published by Five Islands Press in 1998 and won the Anne Elder Award. Her second collection is The Last Tourist (Five Islands Press 2006). Other awards for her poetry include the Bruce Dawe Poetry Prize and the D.J.O'Hearn Memorial Fellowship. 

Her first collection of short stories Other lives is due to be published by Ginninderra Press mid 2007.
