ROBYN FRIEND is an established Tasmanian writer of fiction and oral history and an experienced teacher of creative writing, mentor of new writers and manuscript assessor. Her first novel EVA was chosen by the Friends of the Library as the most important Tasmanian book of its year of publication. Her second novel THE BUTTERFLY STALKER was nominated for the 2004 Sisters In Crime Davitt Award. In 2002-3 she was an Asialink Literary resident in India and is currently working on a resultant third novel THE LOVERS’ HANDBOOK. As a mentor Robyn has worked with six new writers including prize winners Rachael Treasure, Jenny Herrera and Joy Elizabeth. Her 2003 Candidate, Susan Butler, is soon to be published in the UK. She is currently working with playwright, Leigh Swinbourne, on his first novel. |
