Tansy Rayner Roberts is a fantasy writer, author of the Mocklore Chronicles (all two of them) and many short stories, as well as an editor, a PhD student and an avid reader. She was born in 1978 and lives in Tasmania, Australia. Tansy was first published in 1998 with Splashdance Silver, after winning the inaugural George Turner Prize for Science Fiction and Fantasy. The sequel, Liquid Gold, was released in 1999. She is currently working on the third Mocklore Chronicle. Along with Chuck McKenzie, author of Worlds Apart, Tansy recently co-edited an anthology of comic SF, fantasy and horror by Australian authors. AustrAlien Absurdities was published by Agog! Press in June 2002 and is available from Slow Glass Books (Melbourne), Infinitas Books (Sydney), Pulp Fiction (Brisbane), Ellison Hawker Bookshop (Hobart), the Hobart Bookshop (Hobart) and at www.spacejock.com. AustrAlien Absurdities features an introduction by comic fantasy writer Tom Holt, as well as fiction by many great Australian writers including Sean Williams, Simon Brown, Robert Hood, Jack Wodhams, Dave Luckett and lots more. Tansy is a founding member of a critiquing group for speculative fiction writers in Tasmania. The Invisible College meets once a month to exchange stories, opinions and ideas. Tansy is also a founding member of the ASIM Co-operative Ltd, who edit, produce and publish Andromeda Spaceways Inflight Magazine, a bi-monthly pulp SF/fantasy magazine packed with adventure, excitement and chrome. Tany's conducts a monthly on-line fantasy writing course through the Tasmanian Writers' Centre. Tansy's most recent book is Seacastles, which is the first in the Shimmaron series of books published by ABC Books. Seacastles has recently been tranlasted for publication in Israel. |
