Song Fight! - 2005/03/21 01:12 This site http://www.songfight.org is putting out a challenge to songwriters everywhere.

Each week a number of titles are provided to inspire a new creation. Those creations are then uploaded to the site and voted on by the public. The qualities of the entries is very high and there's a fair bit of variety of style to the contributions.

So, if songwriting is your thing or you're interested in new music, head on over and check it out. Those on dial-up connections might have to wait a while to load the songs but it could be worth it if you discover a great new musician.

Similar to my previous post about the daily dose of imagery I also think this could be a great site to use as a part of your writing practice. You could use the titles to write a song or story (with or without the accompanying music) or you could use the songs themselves to stimulate a piece. Even just as background music for a short stint of free-writing. It could be a great way to expose yourself to types of music you wouldn't normally listen to which will open up new moods and rhythms in your writing.
