2013 Tasmanian Literary Prizes

Posted Wednesday 29th August, 2012

The 2013 Tasmanian Literary Prizes (formerly the Tasmania Book Prizes) are open for entries. Administered by Arts Tasmania, these are the Tasmanian State Government's biennieal literary awards, with prizes to celebrate the richness of the Tasmanian literary sector and acknowledge the particular influence that Tasmania has on written work.

This year the prizes have been reimagined to ensure that emerging writers are also celebrated and that literary content in its many different forms is valued. Prizes on offer include the following:

Tasmania Book Prize: for the best book with Tasmanian content in any genre - $25,000

Margaret Scott Prize: for the best book by a Tasmanian writer - $5,000

University of Tasmania Prize: for the best new unpublished literary work by an emerging Tasmanian writer - $5,000.

For full details, conditions of entry and entry forms see the Arts Tasmania website.

Entries close on 12th September 2012, and winners will be announced during Ten Days on the Island in March 2013.
