Position vacant: Communications Manager

The Tasmanian Writers' Centre is seeking a Communications Manager to work in its Hobart office part time, 14 hours per week. Key duties include assisting the Director in strategic and program development for the Centre, and marketing small and large scale events, including the Tasmanian Writers’ Festival in March 2013. POSITION DESCRIPTION: Communications Manager, Tasmanian Writers' Centre

Scope

• 12 month contract with a 3 month probation period
• Hobart office
• Part time, 14 hours per week over two or three days, with pro-rata leave and super entitlements
• Remuneration $28 to $31 per hour based on relevant experience
• Some flexibility in hours required to cover events
• Work closely with a small team of up to 8 staff and volunteers, and contractors to the Centre.

Responsibilities

• Assist Director in strategic development, program development and implementation.

• Implement campaigns to market small and large scale events, including the Tasmanian Writers’ Festival, March 2013.

• Write marketing materials for a range of audiences and formats, such as the fortnightly E-cal newsletter and e-bulletins; press releases; flyers, brochures and posters; Facebook and website.

• Write and edit corporate documents, such as annual reports, grant applications, project proposals, speech notes, briefing notes, workshop summaries.

• Maintain links with local writers and stakeholder organisations.

• Assist with member service as required.
