Postcard from New Delhi - Chris in India #1

Posted Tuesday 17th December, 2013

Monday morning - off to work at Saltanpur, three metro stops away… the new office for Teamwork Arts is being built around us. I walk from the station along a narrow raised footpath snaking besides a huge, crowded teeming freeway ...cars, trucks motorbikes, bicycles and tuk tuks. The dirt street that greets me at the end has orange and vegetable barrows, chai tea makers, tiny hindu shrines, building sites for new homeware warehouses, beautiful apartments (in the back streets), semi-demolished four storey buildings, vacant lots, a school and many one-roomed family dwellings .. no windows, where the children play in the narrow gutter alongside the road. Then of course there are the monkeys, and the odd brahman cow appearing out of nowhere.
