TWITCH!
"But when the pen is in their hand they have to write by itch and twitch..." - John Ciardi,1916 - 1986
Twitch, from the Tasmanian Writers' Centre, brings young Tasmanian writers together to provide a platform of support for the art and craft of writing. Teenagers through to thirty-somethings are welcome. You can make use of the Twitch blog, where you can add bits of writing, thoughts, comments, advice or anything literary. Fullers Bookshop, Hobart, will also hold events for Twitch, featuring successful young writers speaking about their writing.
For everyone who has spent time staring at a blank page or flickering screen, and for everyone who has struggled to communicate why they feel the urge to write - and why this urge never goes away - Twitch is the place for you!
Our first event of 2012 will be held at 6pm on Thursday 23 February, at Fullers Bookshop, 131 Collins St, Hobart. Come along for drinks and nibbles, and hear young Tasmanian writers reading from their work and chatting about how and why they write. It's informal and everyone is welcome.

The opening line of a short story is perhaps the most critical sentence in the entire story. A good opener makes the reader want to know what happens. Since there are only a few thousand words, you need to make sure that you have the reader's undivided attention from the first sentence.
One of my favourite opening sentences: “The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed.” - Stephen King, The Gunslinger.
What are your favourite...
Here we go! Gearing up for the Twitch launch tonight at Fullers, followed by fabulous and sparkling literary contributions streaming onto this blog. :-)
